Headlines: Season 11

  • Shut Out Again

An incredible double OT game left the Gryphons out of the championship game for the 4th straight season and 0-10 in the last 5 playoffs. The Ice beat them 137-135 to advance. Guadalupe Hanley scored 29 points with 19 boards while Mack Solorio had 38 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

  • History repeat?

As in the past 4 post-seasons the Gryphons have played, they've come out losing. Now 0-9 during the stretch losing to the Ice 97-105. Floyd Emerton scored 30 points in the loss.

  • Awards

Floyd Emerton was Team MVP for the 4th straight time and an all-star for his 7th. Guadalupe Hanley is now a 2-time all-star while Mack Solorio was selected for his 4th.

  • Gryphons win team record 10th straight to close season

A huge 126-104 stamp on the Pitbulls in the final game of the season leave little doubt that the Gryphons have turned things up going into the post-season. They have now won 10 straight and a team record 32 wins. Mack Solorio scored 33 points with 7 rebounds and 6 assists in the game.

  • No option but WIN IT ALL

As the Gryphons did last season, they have been rolling at the end of the season setting a new franchise mark for wins in a row along the way. But are they ready for the post-season? The team has been the best team over the past 4 regular seasons and the worst playoff team in their last 4 outings going 0-8 not making it out of the first round not once. The team goes in as the #1 seed again, but could possibly have a playoff setback ...again. Nicholas Magdaleno is now out for the rest of the season as is his backup Edmond Chau. This leaves rookie Cleveland Trinka starting alongside Guadalupe Hanley at forward. If Floyd Emerton can navigate the Gryphons to a championship this season amidst astronomical pressure from the fans, the Gryphons will have etched a golden mark on the league. Emerton has had an amazing season averaging nearly a triple double throughout the final games of the regular season and has been the best guard in the league since coming to the Gryphons. He is trying to win his and the franchise a second championship. They previously won under Derrick Fons guidance in their inaugural season 2.

  • Gryphons wrap up top seed in thriller over Venom

It came down to the last minute, but the Gryphons won their 7th in a row over the Venom 124-119 in what many consider a championship game preview. The team has now won 29 games in each of the last 4 seasons. Floyd Emerton scored 24 points with 10 rebounds and 11 assists in his first triple double effort of the season.

  • Gryphons wrap up playoff berth

With their 6th straight win and a series win 3-2 over the Ice 109-91, the Gryphons are back in the playoffs for the 4th straight season. Floyd Emerton scored 25 points, 10 boards and 9 assists while Guadalupe Hanley had 21 points, 18 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort.

  • Emerton lights up the Spirit with 44 points

A new season high for Floyd Emerton scoring 44 points giving the Gryphons their 4th straight win. The team bested the Spirit 123-108.

  • Emerton has season high 42 in win

Floyd Emerton led the Gryphons to a big win over the freebee Pitbulls 122-90. He scored 42 points with 8 assists to lead the team.

  • Gryphons fend off Dragons for 4th time

In an exciting back and forth shootout, the Gryphons beat the Dragons 122-120 to take a 4-0 series lead over what could be a post season matchup. It was a great team effort with 4 starters scoring over 23 points. Mack Solorio had a great day scoring 26 points with 10 boards in the win.

  • Gryphons slow Dragons roll

In what could have been a post season preview matchup, the Gryphons triumphed over the Dragons 127-121 despite missing key personel in Guadalupe Hanley and Mack Solorio. The team got a huge boost from second season player Nicholas Magdaleno scoring 40 points while Floyd Emerton had 25 with 11 rebounds and 5 assists.

  • Gryphons fall to Rhinos ending 6 game win streak

Floyd Emerton fouled out, Guadalupe Hanley was injured and Mack Solorio was ejected resulting in a 80-95 loss to the Rhinos and one of the worst games played in the season for the Rhinos.

  • The best player you don't know

Overshadowed by superstar Floyd Emerton, Guadalupe Hanley has been instrumental in the Gryphons excellent regular season records over the past four seasons. Now in his 4th season, he was drafted #5 overall to the Rhinos, but sat the bench before coming over to the Gryphons the next season and dominating the boards. He has consistently gotten better, bursting onto the scenes by tying the league record with 28 rebounds and then being voted as an all-star for the first time last season. More of a rebound threat than a scorer, it's still a normal occurence for him to put up a double-double game in and game out.

  • Gryphons come from behind to win 4th straight

Despite being down by 16 in the 1st after a 10 point period, the Gryphons rallied to beat the Paladins 95-88 behind Floyd Emertons 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists.

  • Bragging Rights

The Gryphons proved top dogs once again defeating the Venom 107-90 to up the series lead 2-0. Floyd Emerton led the way scoring 29 points with 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks in the victory.

  • Gryphons beat Spikers in shootout

  • Gryphons beat Pitbulls in thriller

It was a best record vs worst record with the Gryphons winning in an OT thriller 123-120. Floyd Emerton scored 29 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge.

  • Gryphons put Paladins in check

The Gryphons offed the Paladins by 30 points 109-79 leaving no question who the team to catch will be this season. Floyd Emerton led the team with 26 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists.

  • Gryphons prove dominant over Venom

The leagues giants squared off with Gryphons coming out easily on top pulling away in the second half 107-87. This was the Venom's lowest output of the season.

  • Solorio has best game of the season in Gryphons win

Mack Solorio scored 26 points with 18 rebounds as the Gryphons cruised past the Ice 107-95.

  • Gryphons lose their first

Falling 114-124 to the undefeated Spikers, the Gryphons are hit with their first loss of the season despite Floyd Emertons 18 points, 9 assists and no turnovers.
