Headlines: Season 3

  • Broncos qualify for the Team Tournament

  • Do or Die... It's Game 5!

The Broncos came out and shocked the Meteors with an elimination stand in game 4 to stay alive for another chance to advance to the championship game with a 19 point win. They were at home, but did it without star Jake Lomeli. Of note,  Homer Gandy of the Meteors was injured and is a blow to the team, but expect Patrick Shoemaker to solidly fill his shoes.

Game 5 will be at the Meteors stadium and it's doubtful that  Dean Botelho and  Trevor Skabo will have a repeat performance of scoring just 13 and 12 respectively. As long as one of those players can lead the team with at least 25 points for the game, expect the #2 Meteors to advance to the championship where the Ice Monkeys are waiting for the showdown.

  • Leclair agrees to deal with Broncos

  • Roundy injured, will miss at least 4 games.

  • Meteors comeback has team tasting championship

The Meteors have been putting up astronomical scoring numbers this postseason with any one of the starters capable of taking over a game. They came back from a 23 point deficit last game to go up 2-1 against the Broncos last night with a chance to close things out on the road and head to their first championship series in franchise history.

Unfortnately for the Broncos, it will be an uphill battle, as they have lost 2-time All-Star and Team MVP Jake Lomeli for the rest of the season, leaving even more of the burden to Bradly Suniga who has been having a phenomenal postseason. The positive is that they have a chance at a last homestand to even the series and force a game 5.

  • Lomeli injured, will miss at least 9 games.

  • Lomeli selected as an All-Star

Jake Lomeli has been voted as an all-star for the Broncos. Lomeli averaged 20.9ppg, 8.4rpg and 0.4apg.

  • Botelho and Meteors rock Broncos in game 1

The game was pretty much over before it even got going as the Meteors went on to crush the Broncos in another offensive clinic. The Meteors have broken the previous franchise record of 132 points twice in the past 3 games, racking up their 5th 130+ point game of the season with the 138-100 victory. Dean Botelho was huge with a career best 17 boards and 33 points.

Bradly Suniga put on a show for the Broncos scoring a franchise record 45 points, just 1 more than his previous record, hitting 16 of 30 shots including 7 3 pointers. The Broncos get a chance to tie things up next game at home.

  • Jake Lomeli named Team MVP

Jake Lomeli has won the Team MVP award for the 3rd Broncos season.

  • Broncos move one step closer to semi's

The Broncos cruised to another easy victory over the hopeless Cheery O's 113-85. The Broncos now lead the series 2-0 as the series move back to the Cheery O's court.

  • Cheery O's face must win on road to Broncos

It's obvious the Cheery O's aren't as good a team when they had Christopher Stovall on board, but they did well to shore up the 3rd playoff spot. Unfortunately they are up against the Broncos at full strength. They were shut down to their worst loss of the season, 32 points at home against the Broncos to find themselves down 0-1 in the best of 5 series. The Broncos are home and if they pull out this win, which is almost a surety, there is almost no chance the Cheery O's could muster the drive to come back in this series.

  • Donald Houser finishes 1st in the league in steals

Donald Houser averaged 2.6 steals per game this season finishing in 1st place leaguewide. The Broncos congratulate him on this accomplishment.

Bradly Suniga averaged .453 three point percentage per game this season finishing in 2nd place leaguewide. The Broncos congratulate him on this accomplishment.
  • Broncos take #6 seed in playoffs

With their 20-15 record, the Broncos sit with the #6 seed and will go into the first round of the playoffs on the road against the Cheery O\'s.

  • Ice Monkeys triumph to claim top seed

It was a hard fought game between the Ice Monkeys and Broncos in the cage, but the Ice Monkeys prevailed after 18 lead changes and OT 137-124. Jamison Bomberger played out of his mind with a career and team season high 40 points with 7 boards and 6 assists while Earl Wilt scored 30 with 7 and 7. Bomberger joined Wilt, Wilfred Shobe and former player Virgil Fowle as the only players to hit 40 points in a game for the Ice Monkeys.

The Ice Monkeys will take top seed with their 23rd win in the playoffs, while the Meteors who also had 23 will settle for 2nd. Meanwhile, the Broncos, who will be making a 3rd straight playoff appearance will take 6th seed.

The Broncos and Cloud squared off in a battle of two teams deadset on playoff basketball with the Cloud coming in as one of the hottest teams around on a 4 game win streak, and the Broncos trying to keep afloat after going 1-4 the past 5 games.

The Broncos jumped out early at home going up by 18, but the Cloud battled back despite having Jared Isaacs foul out early after 17 points. Randall Madera took the reigns scoring 39 points on 17 of 26 shooting along with Randal Lyne scoring 22 getting the team back in striking distance and keeping them in the lead with 2 minutes left to win by 3 after Alden Swoffer missed a game tying 3 pointer. For the Broncos, Jake Lomeli scored 39 points with 9 boards.

  • Suniga headlines win with career high 44

This has been a breakout season for Bradly Suniga averaging near 24 points per game after a career high of 44 for the Broncos to beat the Terriers 120-109. Suniga hit 9 of 11 three pointers, also a career high. The Broncos as a whole hit 16 of 28 from the perimeter.
