Playoff Picture Taking Shape!
Of course the Slash will ride into the sunset with the #1 seed trailing their names, but with two key injuries to the roster in recent games, it's now a less obvious given that they will repeat as champions.
The race for #2 has heated up with the Meteors making serious strides as of late to overtake the Diamonds with their key victory over the team to climb within a half game back. The head-to-head is now tied up. The Meteors however do have a slightly harder schedule to contend with.
Not to be overshadowed, the Wolves have overcome their mid-season slump to right in the thick of that #2 battle, winning their last 9 of 10. They have however lost both games to the Diamonds and do have a tough schedule which include the Meteors, Cobras and Slash.
For the 4th position, the Wranglers have a very solid grasp with the Cobras & Battle right there. The Wranglers have a favorable schedule and will make the playoffs for the first time in 5 seasons. The Battle have been inconsistent all season, but should make it in no problem along with the Cobras.
The Badgers have nose-dived during the second half of the season after starting out with a 12-4 record. They should consider themselves lucky if they can win 3 of their last 6 games to give themselves a shot at the 8th spot. It would be only the second appearance in franchise history since taking the 7th seed in season 3.
The Eclipse, Broncos and possibly Ice Monkeys are still game for that 8th spot as well. The Eclipse have not missed the playoffs since going 19-16 in season 4 and their schedule to wrap things up may have them winning just 18 games this season. The Broncos have been very bad lately and their remaining schedule might see them win 2 or 3, but that will not be enough to make it in. A disappointment after their resurgent 20 wins a season ago to take the 7th seed. The Ice Monkeys do have a favorable schedule, but are on a spiral losing streak. If they somehow manage winning 5 of their last 6, they might prevent missing the playoffs for a second straight season.
