  • Ladd huge for Slash over Wranglers for franchise record 6th straight win

It was quite the battle between the Wranglers and Slash with big postseason implications on the line. The Wranglers have sputtered down the stretch in what looked like a sure playoff berth, but lost their 3rd in a row, this time to the Slash 111-102. Meanwhile the Slash have been incredible facing playoff elimination winning their last 6 contests after they inserted Gary Ladd into the starting lineup to solidify their offensive attack. Ladd scored a game high 34 with 9 boards on 13 of 15 shooting to lead the way.

The Slash face the Wolves and Moles to wrap up the regular season attempting to make the franchises first postseason appearance. The Wranglers will attempt to dod the same with tough games vs the Wasps and Eclipse.

  • Slash Retooling

It's been quite a merry-go-round for the Slash this season under GM lasstr8. As the team sits trying desperately to surpass the franchises most wins of 15 in the 1st season, they have built a team around prize catch Christopher Stovall. However, the team has changed drastically from the team he was surrounded by last season, and continues to change with the most recent addition of Gary Ladd.

Ladd, a former #1 pick and rookie of the season, 2-time all-star and 2-time All-League selection, has been a hold out for the better part of the season, finally persuaded to join the Slash for a long term contract as they will now have a decent shot to make the playoffs for the first time in team history.

Other notable changes include Caleb Weatherspoon in and out from the Cloud, Denis Rosa and Stan Villano to the Cloud, Michael Mattox and Cole Lemus in from the Wasps, Nathaniel Kahle and Gonzalo Calpin gone, Brandon Siva gone, Boone Rehrer and Blaine Hannon in from the Wranglers, Hannon then back out. Chester Keene, Jeffry Brewington and future 1st round picks to bring crowd favorite Truman Scanlon back from the Cheery O's... among others.

Add to this the multitude of free agent pickups along with top 10 draft pick guards Isar Tellefsen and Isod Safron. Quite a different team from just a season ago, with several different lineups... the only constant being Stovall. It remains to be seen if GM lasstr8 settles on this roster, and if in fact he can even hold onto the job next season... how the season plays out should decide.

  • Moles face big challenge in push for playoffs

The Jacks are the first obstacle in the Moles quest to win out and guarantee a playoff spot. They bested the Jacks earlier this season, but that was before the resurgence of the Jacks with Terrence Mcniff, Gary Ladd and Dirk Roberson playing big winning 6 straight games before losing to the Broncos by 4. The Jacks are a team that figure to be in the mix for one of the final playoff spots, so a win here would be astronomical for the Moles as the season winds down.

Gary Ladd put in 33 with 12 boards while Dirk Roberson scored 26 with 13. The Jacks are still short-handed, playing without Kent Noll who may miss the entire series.

The Jacks will be lucky to escape this round as the Eclipse were 13-4 at home and have the tools to beat anyone at any point.

  • No Noll, No Problem... Jacks defeat Slash with big game from Ladd

Kent Noll went down early in the first period to injury leaving rookie phenom Gary Ladd to pick up the slack, and that he did having a monster day scoring 23 points with a career high 19 boards and 5 assists to lead the Jacks over the Slash 108-100. Dirk Roberson was also big with his 30 point, 10 board double-double. The win gives the Jacks 18 wins and a 3rd place spot in the standings.

  • Big win for Badgers to set franchise mark

The Badgers have been on quite a roll since the return of Gregorio Yule from injury, winning a new franchise record 5 games in a row. They fended off the Jacks 112-108 to even up their record at .500 for the first time since early in the season. Darnell Proffitt scored 27 points to lead the team while Numbers Pettigrew scored 18 with 12 boards. For the Jacks, Gary Ladd scored just 6 points in 12 minutes before fouling out of the game.

  • Roberson huge in Jacks win over Eclipse

The star-studded Jacks went on to their 17th win, two more than last season already by defeating the Eclipse 126-116 with Dirk Roberson have a monster day pulling in a franchise record 22 boards to go along with his second straight 28 point game. Kent Noll fouled out with only 25 minutes, but put up 32 points in the outting. Edward Thrash led the team with 11 assists and 19 points while rookie sensation Gary Ladd scored 21 with 8 boards and 6 assists.

  • Cloud best Jacks in heavyweight matchup

The preseason #1 Jacks and the champion Cloud squared off in a match that could have heavy playoff seeding implications with the Cloud coming out the victors in a shootout that saw both team put up franchise record numbers in points and a combined score of 265 points. The Clouds win gives them a 2-0 head-to-head advantage and therfore a playoff tiebreaker advantage which could prove very useful from the way things are looking.

Caleb Weatherspoon scored 28 with 13 assists while hitting 11 of 12 from the field while Jared Isaacs scored 34 with 4 assists and 4 boards.

For the Jacks, Gary Ladd continues to make a very strong case for Rookie of the Season just missing his first triple double scoring 21 with 11 boards and 9 assists in the losing effort.

  • Ice Monkeys ride Fowle to victory

It was a huge win for the Ice Monkeys over the Jacks, especially given that the Ice Monkeys were without star guard Wilfred Shobe in the lineup due to a knee injury for the next 8-9 games. The game came down to the wire with the Jacks getting two good looks to send the game to OT, but Gary Ladd and Tom Barringer both missed their shots with time winding down.

Virgil Fowle was a monster scoring a career high 42 points in the win including going 14 of 19 from the stripe. Tommie Drey put up a double-double scoring 16 with 15 boards. For the Jacks, Kent Noll led the team with 31 points.

  • #1 pick Ladd impresses in preseason debut

The preseason favorite Jacks lost by 2 points to the Broncos, but it was overall #1 pick Gary Ladd who stole the show, even outplaying last seasons playoffs MVP and previous #1 pick Kent Noll . He scored 21 points with 8 boards and 5 rebounds in the debut in just 25 minutes. Noll did hold his own however in the battle of the #1 picks scoring a game high 26 points on 10 of 18 shooting.

  • Under head coach John K, the Jacks last season went all out trading away their next two 1st round draft picks to get the Ice Monkeys Judson Ibarra and Adolfo Hebert betting on a playoff berth and a run at a championship. It didn't pan out so well, as despite the team finishing somewhat strong down the stretch, they could only muscle a 15-20 record, missing the playoffs and firing John K.

This season seems to be no different. They lucked out with the top pick in the draft, Gary Ladd who is a solid shooter, terrific rebounder and all around great player, they traded for the Impact's Christopher Stovall who should compliment him very well with his rebounding and scoring abillities. It will be no surprise if the team leads the league in rebounds. Add in the depth at center between Hebert and Dirk Roberson, you have an A+ defense.

Then for the crème de la crème. They kept solid point guard Edward Thrash, and brought in pure scorer, #1 pick in the season 1 draft, and playoff MVP Kent Noll. Don't be surprised if he lights up the league with 30+ points a game!

The Jacks are now ranked #1 in the preseason rankings to win it all. With the solid core of starters, and an equaly solid bench, if this team doesn't contend for a championship this season... the team might as well just give it up.
