  • Slash v Eclipse: Season Episode 1

This seasons Slash v Eclipse rivalry has the teams in usual fashion squaring off at the top of the standings. Including this game and the past 3 regular season matchups have the teams coming in at a combined 116-24 (81%) record with the winning the last regular season meeting by 6 and the Eclipse winning the prior 2.

The Slash have won the last 3 matchups including playoffs however where the teams met in the championship game. The Eclipse of course are the reigning champs going on to win last season become the first time to take multiple championships in League II while breaking the record for regular season wins with 32.

The Slash are led by All-Stars Evan Wile and Cliff Labbe, Rawdon Connard and Gregorio Yule with once again perhaps the deepest bench in the league, while the Eclipse come in with All-Stars Jake Lomeli and Caleb Shedd and former All-Star Armand Whyman with the defensive terrors All-Defender Andy Fredricks and Michael Mattox.

Both teams feature high-flying offensives with the Eclipse having a better outside game. Both teams are turning the ball over just 12 times a game, however the Eclipse come in with one of the best defenses in the league.

The Eclipse have been terrorizing the league despite losing League MVP Jamison Bomberger while the Slash have remained quite the force as usual despite reworking the team coming into the season and even during it.

It should be a good one folks!

  • Way Too Early Assessments

Despite his numbers down last season, Morris Rosa remains a beast. Rosa has come out the gates fiery hot scoring 38 and 47 points... both more than his highest output of the previous season. The former League MVP is also hitting 83% of his shots while the Impact aim for their 4th straight 20+ season.

The Slash offensive juggernaut rolls on. Despite the lineup changes, most notably Rawdon Connard , Khan Lefeaver and Gregorio Yule replacing Hiram Jurasz , Christopher Stovall and Randall Madera... the Slash look to be on course to lead the league for the 6th straight season in scoring. This also may be Connard's launch into superstardom.

Jamison Bomberger is still Jamison Bomberger. Back w/ the Ice Monkeys where he rose to superstardom, the 2-time League champion and reigning League MVP is keeps the Ice Monkeys as a threat despite losing Gregorio Yule to the Slash in a potential team rebuilding move.

The Eclipse won't miss Collin Trotter. While the team will not be as deep this season, the team can be nearly as potent with their Cobras deal sending Trotter away for the #1 pick Center Kazuo Bybee after Bomberger and Randal Lyne both departed for Free Agency.

Mohammed Lemaster will not save the Jacks. The team tried to get somewhat back to their roots by getting one of the teams original members who has since gone on to be a 1-time all-star and all-defensive player. He joins Defensive MVP Re Scalese to lead the team, but there are just still too many holes for the team not to have their 6th straight losing season.

Never discount the Meteors. The team never seems to rise to the level of top tier... but the trio of Jose Teske , Homer Gandy and Trevor Skabo will keep the team as a contender throughout the season.

The Wolves are scarier than last season. Not only does the team have a bucketload of potential all-stars on the court at all times and have the potential to put up even sillier offensive numbers than last season... they can also still play defense. After their franchise best 29-6 campaign last season where they led the league in point differential at +14.3ppg, it's possible the team stretches that to challenge the Slash's record +17.2 differential from two seasons ago.

The Ice Monkeys hold on to hope that another win will get them into the playoffs, while the Badgers are essentially out with 18 wins sure not to cut mustard. • Badgers outrebound Terriers 49-35... lose by one.

The Badgers had a chance to win the game, but missed a final shot to lose the game at home 104-103 to the Terriers. Both teams are now nodded up at 8-8. The difference was the perimeter shooting, as the Terriers hit 10 of 22, while the Badgers had just 5 of 20 attempts.

The Moles defeated the Badgers 101-88 with the Moles taking the lead in the 2nd half and never looking back. The trade for Elbert Hewgley has been a question mark since he got to the team from the Impact. He was expected to fill the point guard void for the team, but given his problematic shooting, doubtful that he could be too effective. This game proved otherwise... and then some. Hewgley exploded for 31 points on 10 of 21 shooting with 8 assists in the contest giving the Moles fans quite the excitement for the upcoming season if he can maintain his sensational play. Team MVP and All-star Hiram Atkins led all scores with 32 points with 10 boards.
