  • Smooth Sailin'

Once again the Lizards have emerged as one of the top teams in the league becoming the first to win 20+ contests and first to clinch a playoff berth. No surprise though, as they have been the most consistent franchise in the league's first 4 seasons, reaching not only the playoffs with 21+ wins every season, but the 2nd round every single season as well which is the hump they will attempt to surpass this season.

The bring perhaps their toughest team with their usual deep bench in this season under coach Makaveli with familiar players who've been on the roster since season 1... Drew Hanes, Jamal Reese, Broderick Kay, Genaro Deavers, Bart Kelleher, Elbert Saucier, Israel Deaton among others.

On any given game, either one of those players might carry the team as they play season-in/season-out as probably the most unselfish group of players anywhere. With a few games left, they should easily wrap up the #1 seed for home court advantage, and may just take a crack at the Impact record of 26 wins in a season.

  • Lizards end Ice Monkeys 6-game win streak

Drew Hanes led the Lizards with a game high 29 points on 11-20 shooting, including 4-9 from downtown, to beat the Ice Monkeys 100-98 on the road. The Ice Monkeys built an early 10 point lead in the first quarter, but the Lizards came on strong in the second and led the rest of the game. A late comeback effort by the Ice Monkeys made the game interesting, but it was too late. Wilfred Shobe hit a shot with 0:05 on the clock to cut it to 1 before Roland Sibert hit 1 of 2 free throws to close out the game, leaving no time for a potential game-tying shot. A first quarter injury to Jamison Bomberger, a key contributor for the Ice Monkeys, already missing F Brodrick Lamyman with a hip injury, appeared to play a factor in the game. Shobe led the Ice Monkeys with 24 points and 10 rebounds, but struggled at the perimeter going 1-12. The Lizards dominated the turnover battle 13 to 6, including 4 steals from Israel Deaton, which seemed to make the difference in this game. The Lizards are now 5-0 all time versus the Ice Monkeys.
