  • Paladins Take Game 1 in 2nd Round Series Vs Ice

    The Paladins came out victorious vs a tough Ice team 110-94 to jump out in front for the series lead after the first game. Boyd Brunson was huge off the bench scoring a season high 25 points in 24 minutes. While getting to the free throw line was major for the Palaidns, turnovers ended up costing the Ice as they commited 23 versus the Paladins 14.

    The Ice were without star forward Avertano Traster and hope that he will solidify the teams presence in game two on the Ice home court.

  • Paladins Win in Heart-pounding squeaker over Romans

    The Paladins eeked by the Romans in OT, finally winning by 8 points after going up by an unbelievable 31 in the first quarter. The 2nd and 3rd quarters showed a complete collapse in offense leading to a 3 point Romans lead. They managed to get things together enough in the 4th to push OT after a Milan Munding last seconds missed shot, Kodie Cabotage offensive rebound with 5 seconds left. Another timeout, Boyd Brunson shooting and getting fouled with a chance to win, but missing the first free throw. Then OT. Finally with 2 minutes left in overtime, the Paladins found their shot and their defense to beat the Romans for the 10th straight time and move to a league best 9-2. Cabotage led all scores with 31 points and 15 boards.

    The Paladins and Ice come in as the 1st and 2nd ranked teams in the league respectively, both sporting a 7-1 record, with the Ice losing for the first time last outing to the Rhinos after the franchise best 7-0 start to the season. The Paladins went on to tie the franchise best start of last season with a 6-0 start, losing by a point to the Gryphons, then getting back on track with a big win over the Clash.

    The Paladins feature a bevy of talent featuring Kodie Cabotage, the leagues MVP 5 times over who led the Lava to the past 4 championship titles and is adjusting to his new team role. Veteran Mauricio Wolcott who also won 2 League MVP awards early on, recruited back to the team after a stint w/ the Rhinos and a rejuvenated offensive game. Veteran Boyd Brunson who is the Paladins all-time leading scorer and last seasons League Tournament MVP and All-Star Volker Knobell with a young Chitrarath Rotenberry holding down the Center responsibilities.

    The Ice landed a huge addition in the young Torry Hum who had been a defensive wizard and also led the Warriors in scoring the previous 2 seasons. They returned the teams leading scorer from last season Avertano Traster with 2-time all-star, one of the leagues best and the Franchises best passer Kevan Palifka running the Offense. They installed 8th season veteran Bridgely Macpaden into his first full-time starting role at center and has found his niche as a paint commander leading the league with 14.5rpg.

    While both teams boast solid defenses, the Ice have taken things a step further making defense their central focus and the strategy has worked wonders. The team leads the league in defense and is on pace to allow just over 90ppg which would shatter the franchise record of 95ppg in season 7 where the team made the playoffs for the first time ever. Meanwhile the Paladins have installed a quick strike offense which has them leading the league with 119ppg with a +19ppg differential.

    Somethings got to give as League I's juggernauts go at it head-to-head for the first of two showdowns this season.

Volker Knobell was once again very solid on defense as well as running the offense, dishing a new franchise record 17 assists. Jim Weddle scored a season high 16 with 10 boards.

  • Paladins roll through Urchins, tie franchise best start

    The game was tight until the 3rd quarter when the Paladins scored 47 to blow it open, defeating the Urchins 113-91 to improve to a franchise best tying 9-1 start. First time since the 3rd season. Boyd Brunson led the charge with 24 points and 9 assists while Jim Weddle scored 19 with 10 boards. Urson Noel was huge off the bench in his finest game of the season scoring 15 with 11 boards in 24 minutes.

    Next up are the Razors on the road where they will attempt to best the mark for best record to start the season for the franchise.

  • Paladins remain undefeated, 6-0 for first time in franchise history

    The Paladins took advantage of the 2nd quarter building a 16 point lead by halftime to win 109-87 over the Bolts. The Bolts did however outrebound the Paladins putting the field goal attempts at 100-79, but the Paladins defense held up. Boyd Brunson scored 21 to lead the team which included three 3 point shots. Off the bench Urson Noel will instrumental with 16 points on 6 of 9 shooting.

    This marks the first time in franchise history the Paladins have won their first 6 contests. This also has been the first time the Paladins were ranked #1 in the power rankings at any point since season 19.

    Next up will be the 3 time defending champion Lava who rank as the best defensive team in the league this season.

  • Paladins notch decisive victory over Clash

    The Paladins have matched the best start in franchise history with their 4th straight win to open the season over the Clash by 45 points. Veterans Mauricio Wolcott and Boyd Brunson led the way scoring 27 and 29 respectively. Jeremi Krysztofiak had his best game of the season pulling down 15 boards with 18 points in the win.

    They will attempt to make it 5 straight against another tough 3-1 Dragons next outting.

  • Paladins get huge win over Gryphons

    The Paladins had a tall order facing the 2-0 Gryphons and were able to pass the test with a convincing 129-106 victory. The game was a battle back and forth until the 4th when the Paladins blew it open. Jim Weddle had his best game of the season, scoring 30 points while getting to the line 12 times. He also pulled in 10 boards. Boyd Brunson scored 16 with 10 assists. Milan Munding took a while to get going scoring just 3 in the first half, but had a strong second half finishing with 23.

    For the Gryphons, Vishal Chanter continued a brilliant season scoring 26, with 8 rebounds and 11 assists in the loss.

    This is the first 3-0 start since their championship run in season 17. They face the undefeated Clash next where they will try to start 4-0 for just first time in 21 seasons and just the second time in franchise history.

Tawa Wilsdon pulled in 11 boards with 20 points and 5 assists.

    The final game will be at home for the Razors where they will attempt to win their 1st franchise championship, while the Paladins attempt their 6th out of 8 championship series.

  • Still Alive! Paladins steal one from Razors

    The Paladins held on to win by 8 after leading by 24 at the Razors home court and avoid being swept in the Season 19 championship game. Mauricio Wolcott was able to avoid foul trouble this time out and led the game with 33 points with 9 assists while Boyd Brunson scored 26 with 7 assists. The team has a real opportunity to tie the series up as they head back home for game 4.

  • Paladins sweep with OT win over Rhinos!

    It was a thriller on Rhinos court in the 3rd game of the semi-final series against the Paladins, with the Rhinos up by three, the Paladins Markes Rankin hit a three pointer for 3 of his 7 points in the game to send things into overtime 115-115. In OT, the Paladins kept ahead to win by 2 points and head to their league record 8th championship game in 19 seasons. Boyd Brunson was tremendous scoring 40 points with 9 assists. Rookie center Tawa Wilsdon was also huge scoring 26 with 11 rebounds. The Rhinos miss an opportunity to attend their 2nd championship to match their two franchise playoff appearances. Oddly enough, their only trip was against the Paladins in season 8, which they lost.

    The Paladins are 5-2 in championship contention. They will be matched against the Razors who also swept their series against the Tigers. The Razors will be in their first championship game as well. The teams split the head-to-head series during the regular season 1-1. Both teams have also both been ranked the top 2 teams in the league according to the power rankings, with the Paladins holding a slight edge. The #5 Razors will hold home court advantage however over the #6 Paladins.

    The Paladins seemed poised to take the series lead, but lost their composure down the stretch allowing the Lava to pull off an incredible comeback taking the game to two overtimes to win 131-128 to go up 2-1 in the series. Kodie Cabotage wowed the crowd again with the best performance of his career scoring 52 points with 9 rebounds while Salam Scherma scored 17 with 17 assists. Boyd Brunson was no slacker either, scoring 39 points with 9 assists while Mauricio Wolcott scored 24 with 11 assists.
